NAMIBIA SAFARI

Apricot Dunes, Endless Vistas and Abundant Wildlife

EcoQuest Travel is proud to offer an incredible journey to the extraordinary country of Namibia. From the colorful dunes rippling across the oldest desert on earth to the wildlife-rich plains and pans of Etosha, Namibia is a feast for the senses. Despite how arid Namibia is it is one of the best countries to view wildlife in Africa! Open landscapes allow for excellent game viewing and limited access to water draws wildlife to waterholes and creates opportunities for exciting animal interactions. We will begin in Windhoek before traveling to Swakopmund and then on to one of the best national parks in all of Africa – Etosha. Along the way we will stop at Twyfelfontein to search for Desert Elephants and admire the prehistoric rock engravings and ancient geology. Once we arrive at Etosha National Park we will have several days to experience this magical place. Etosha means “Great White Place of Dry Water” so named for the immense salt pan that dominants the landscape. The grasslands and bush that surround the pan are home to a fantastic array of wildlife and, unlike other places in Africa where you seek wildlife, in Etosha wildlife often comes to you as animals are drawn to the waterholes literally by the hundreds.

We will also offer an incredible pre-trip extension to explore the ancient Namib Desert. We will begin with the massive and majestic sand dunes of Sossusvlei.  From Sossusvlei we will cross the Namib and end up in the coastal city of Swakopmund. The Namib near Swakopmund is influenced by the cold Benguela Current and the nightly fog swept in from the ocean helps sustain a remarkable diversity of creatures. We will search for these desert denizens, bird the coastal areas of Walvis Bay and even take a boat cruise to locate Heaviside’s Dolphins and Cape Fur Seals.

EcoQuest Travel invites you to join us as we journey to Namibia to explore the apricot-colored dunes, endless vistas and abundant wildlife.
